Good Companions for Dill

CabbageBrassica oleracea var. capitata
BeneficialPest SuppressionSupported

Flowering dill attracts Cotesia glomerata and other parasitoid wasps that parasitize imported cabbageworm (Pieris rapae) larvae. Dill flowers also attract Chrysoperla (lacewing) adults.

Allow dill to flower among brassica beds. Remove spent flower heads to prevent excessive self-seeding if desired.

CauliflowerBrassica oleracea var. botrytis
BeneficialPest SuppressionSupported

Flowering dill attracts Cotesia glomerata and other parasitoid wasps that parasitize imported cabbageworm (Pieris rapae) larvae on cauliflower. Same mechanism documented for cabbage-dill.

Allow dill to flower among cauliflower. Cauliflower is particularly sensitive to caterpillar damage on developing heads.

CucumberCucumis sativus
BeneficialPest SuppressionSupported

Flowering dill attracts predatory insects (Chrysoperla spp., Coccinellidae, Syrphidae) that control cucumber beetle (Diabrotica undecimpunctata) and aphid populations on nearby cucumbers.

Plant dill near cucumbers but not too close -- mature dill allelopathy may affect adjacent plants at very close range. 30-60 cm spacing is ideal.
