What is inside

Professional-grade tools, free and in the browser.

We built the designer on top of our existing horticulture intelligence: a crop database, a companion planting research corpus, 36 pest and 30 disease models, soil chemistry interpretation, growing-degree-day tracking. The design surface is where all of that meets your plan.

2D plan at real scale

Konva-powered top-down canvas. Rectangular and freeform beds, curved edges, paths, structures, trees, zones, annotations, measurements. Grid snap, zoom, pan, undo and redo. 1 foot grid by default with quarter-foot precision.

3D walkthrough

Three.js scene with a sky dome, ground plane, and cast shadows. Wood bed borders, soil surfaces, path extrusions, structure boxes, trees. Plants rendered as textured billboards with natural jitter and subtle wind sway.

194-crop edible library

Every crop in the database has verified spacing, sun requirement, pH range, days to maturity, companion data, pollinator value, and family for rotation. Search by name, family, or crop type.

Live companion overlay

556 companion relationships from university extension research. The overlay draws a colored arc between neighboring plants. Green for beneficial, red for antagonistic. Hover any arc to read the mechanism and source.

Sun and shadow simulation

Real solar position from your latitude and longitude. Scrub the time-of-day slider to watch shadows sweep across beds. Sun Hours mode integrates direct light across a day and reports average sun per bed so you can catch bad placements before planting.

Soil pH fit per bed

Set each bed's soil pH. The designer compares every crop placed in that bed to its tolerated pH range and flags mismatches. Blueberries in neutral soil? Garlic in acidic clay? Caught before the first seed goes in.

Harvest projection

Plant dates plus Plymouth 30-year growing-degree-day normals equal projected harvest windows per variety. See your season in one timeline strip.

Pest and disease watch

For every crop you place, the tool surfaces seasonal pest and disease risks from 36 pest models and 30 disease models with GDD-based emergence timing. Linked to full pest and disease library pages.

Biodiversity score

Live 0 to 100 score across six ecological dimensions. Add a nitrogen fixer, a pollinator plant, or a new family and watch the score climb.

Professional export

Workflow

How to use it

  1. 1

Pick a starter or start blank

Begin with a blank 100 by 100 foot canvas or load a template: family vegetable garden, four-bed raised garden, SFG 4x4, pollinator strip, three-sisters polyculture, fruit orchard, herb spiral, keyhole bed, apartment balcony, market garden.

  2. 2

    Draw beds and paths

Use the bed tool for rectangular raised beds or the polygon tool for freeform in-ground shapes with curved edges. Drop in paths, trees, structures, and zones. All at real scale with a 1 foot grid.

  3. 3

    Place your plants

Select a bed, open Plants in the sidebar, and add crops. The tool computes spacing and plant count automatically. Edit spacing inline.

  4. 4

    Check overlays

Enable the Companion Overlay to see compatibility lines. Enable the Sun Overlay to run a day in fifteen-minute steps and see shadows. Enable Soil pH Fit to flag crops out of their tolerated pH range.

  5. 5

    Walk through in 3D

Toggle to 3D. Orbit, zoom, and pan. Watch plants move with a gentle wind. See the garden in real time-of-day light.

  6. 6

    Export

PDF for printing, PNG for sharing, JSON for archive and re-import. Your work is autosaved in your browser every ten seconds.
